After successfully graduating from the Swansea Institute’s Architectural Stained Glass programme in 1995, I have continued to refine my existing glass working skills whilst also incorporating new skills and approaches.
At the Swansea Institute I had the good fortune of learning the art of stained glass from some of the best practitioners in the field: Rodney Bender, Tim Lewis, Colwyn Morris, and John Edwards. Through their instruction I was inspired to utilize glass as an expressive medium in which I could explore and develop ideas. Specializing in glass painting allows me to draw upon my artistic knowledge and skills in order to create images in any style through the manipulation of texture, colour, and light.
In addition to my specialization in glass painting and staining I design and manufacture bespoke stained glass windows for both public and private commission. I also restore existing stained glass windows.
My influences include the glass work of Hugh Easton for his design and glass painting skills. I also admire the ways in which Christopher Whall and Karl Parsons use glass to manipulate colour and light.
